Co-Planner/Program Chaperone and Instructor. Helped to create, plan, and execute
new art/culture residency study program for graduating eighth grade students to
spend 12 days in Sardinia, Italy. Program included intensive study within the
local museum of Constatino Nivola, fine art classes, and creating, designing,
and completing a public space transformation involving a mural. Also, study of local and general
Italian history, Italian language, local crafts, and traditional Sardinian
dance. Involvement ranged from helping in developing the program, creating
literature, gaining DOE approval, accompany the students through the entire
trip, teaching and guiding the students through the art processes.

Visual Arts Teacher. Design and
lead intensive Visual Arts curriculum for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders in
public middle school, as well as for the Self-Contained¹ Special Education
class. Curriculum has strong focus on interdisciplinary lessons, literacy, art
history, drawing foundations, mixed media techniques, and individuality. Program is designed to be progressive
over the three year period, including a range of projects and media, guest
speakers, field trips, and independent studies. Other roles on school staff
include leading Balanced Literacy classes, Sixth Grade Advisory classes, after
school Portfolio Preparation, Dance, and serving as Yearbook Advisor.

Summer ART FOR KIDS Program (NYC) 7/2003
Master Teacher. Designed and
led intensive Visual Arts summer program
for second to fourth graders. Curriculum focused on individual
creativity, covering a wide spectrum of themes and media. Designed the full two
week curriculum and supervised two adult and two student teaching assistants.

Enrichment Teacher. Planned and taught art enrichment classes for children in
grades 1-6 at full day school at the Hans Christian Anderson Complex, Harlem,
NY. Projects designed to promote awareness of personal abilities and foster
expansion of creative ideas, literacy, and a sense of community.
NYANA (NY Assoc. for New
Americans) ³Kids Make History² Program (ICE) 3/2001-6/2001
Classroom Specialist. Led students in 8-week project on documentary
photography, leading up to creating a photo essay and written work for
display. Site for project was the
Institute for Collaborative Education, working with the eighth grade arts
class. Lessons ranged from history of photography to technical photography,
composition, critique, and how to build a story through photographs.
New York City Parks and
Recreation Department, After School Programming 9/2000-1/2002
Literacy/Arts Consultant. Created and taught arts-based after school literacy
curriculum for ages 6-12. Program enhanced and connected literacy and self-expression
through the arts. Projects ranged widely, from pure visual arts projects to
illustration, book-making, dramatics, music and rhythm, and dance.

Student Teacher. Worked weekly in art classrooms, including Special
Education classes. Helped to develop student artwork and occasionally led
self-designed lessons. Program included museum education program with Booker T.
Washington Middle School, leading students on tours in a variety of city
museums and conducting art lessons based on the visits. (Natural History, MoMA,
and The Met.)

art camp program. Collaborated with other teachers in the Art Education
Department to develop and teach lessons for second to fourth graders. Program
was treated as a laboratory setting, with each lesson developed, observed, and later analyzed by the group as a
part of our Teacher Training.

assistant in after school mixed media class, third to fifth graders. Helped to
prepare classroom and materials, and interacted with students to boost
creativity and help develop projects.
